Princess Diana's old gym sweater just sold for $53,532 at auction

July 18, 2019

People reports that Princess Diana's old pullover that she wore to the gym has been sold-out at an auction for a large amount of $53,532. The virgin Atlantic sweatshirt is navy blue and Princess Diana was often noticed in it paired with shorts while going to the gym. Princess

Diana had given the sweater to her personal trainer Jenni Rivett and she put it up for auction recently.

In an interview with Yahoo News in 2018, Jenni said that Princess Diana used to trick the paparazzi by wearing the slipover daily following her workout sessions as she stepped out of the gym. Every picture of hers would be in this specific sweatshirt outside the gym and the media would soon get bored is what Princess Diana opined, as per Jenni.

"Every single session all the media were outside camped with their stepladders, and cameras and lenses and everything. For her, she simply found it so incredibly, 'Why are they so interested in me when there are more vital things to worry about within the world?' It wasn't her that asked for all this. I remember one of her ways was that she was going to wear the same Virgin Active sweatshirt every single session," Jenni told Yahoo News.

The slipover was sold-out to an anonymous bidder on July 11 whereas people also report that there is also a written note from Princess Diana that Jenni had received along with the gift. The note reads as "Dearest Jenni, lots of love from Diana".

There is another letter which was written by Jenni as "Sir Richard Branson gave this sweatshirt to HRH. It became her favorite top for her regular visits to the gym. She felt there were far more vital issues to concentrate on in the world than her gym wear and thus decided that wearing the famous Virgin sweatshirt to each session, would be a good way to stop the media. A couple of months before her untimely death, she called me to say she had left some sweatshirts for me. Amongst them, this is the one - which I have currently decided to give."

Jenni Rivett is aiming to assist a Malawian family based in South Africa with the amount that she earned from the sale of Princess Diana's sweatshirt, as per the report in people.
